Delete your account

Last updated 19 August 2026. Contact: hallo@hodierna.app

The short version. Settings → Your data → Delete everything. It takes seven days, you can stop it at any point during those seven days, and after that what is destroyed is genuinely gone rather than hidden.

From inside the app

This is the fastest route and the only one that proves the request came from you.

  1. Open Hodierna and go to Settings → Your data.
  2. Choose Export everything first if you want a copy. You will get a single archive containing every entry, photo and document, in formats that open without our app.
  3. Choose Delete everything, then confirm by typing the phrase the screen gives you.
  4. The deletion runs after seven days. Until it runs, opening the same screen lets you cancel it.

If you no longer have the app

Email hallo@hodierna.app from the address you signed in with, and ask for your account to be deleted. We reply from a person, not a robot. We will ask you to confirm once — from that same address — before anything is destroyed, because an email is easy to forge and a logbook is not easy to get back.

What gets deleted

What we keep, and why

You may instead choose Anonymise, which keeps the shape of the data — counts, timings, growth points — while destroying everything that identifies anybody. The columns that name a person are not hashed or scrambled; they are removed, ids are regenerated, and dates are coarsened, so there is nothing left to reverse.

If somebody else shares a logbook you did not create, that logbook is theirs and stays with them. Deleting your account removes your access to it and anything you wrote in it that identifies you.

Records of payments are kept for as long as Dutch tax law requires. Before they are kept, every link to you is destroyed: no account id, no store account id, and the original message from the payment provider replaced. What is left is an amount, a currency, a product and a date — an accounting line about nobody, and never anything from a logbook.

How long it takes

Seven days from confirming, so that a deletion pressed at 3am is not final at 3:01am. After it runs, backups roll off within thirty days. Nothing about your logbook survives beyond that.

What we store in the first place, and why we are allowed to, is set out in the privacy policy.
